Web Development 101

The process of web development is more or less just like the process of learning a bike. It’s difficult, frustrating and seemingly pointless. What’s more, it induces a lot of the pain in the rear areas. But the moment you understand the simple steps and achieve just one cycle of the wheel without feeling – everything would then become a piece of cake!

If we want to be really specific about the process of web development, it would take us more than an hour to just briefly describe each step. But because time is precious, I’ve contrived a way to shorten the process of wed by highlighting the important factors only.

WEB DEVELOPMENT FACTOR # 1: CONTENT

Okay, so technically speaking, formulating the content of your website is not a part of web development per se but just humor me in this one. I’m assuming that you’ve got a personal stake on the website you’re planning to create. If you really want a website that encourages lots of hits, you need a website with great content. So for me, content writing is an important aspect of web development because it catches the attention of your would-be-visitors.

WEB DEVELOPMENT FACTOR #2: DESIGN

Obviously, one of the most crucial factors of wed development is the layout design of your website. Not only does your design have to be attractive, it must also be user-friendly. If you’re new to the process of web development, it’s advisable to start with simple stuff like utilizing just a table or two first and making do with basic hyperlink objects. Later on, you may try using more complicated designs or choose a different language entirely like ASP or PHP.

WEB DEVELOPMENT FACTOR #3: DOMAIN NAME

Naturally, it’s quite important to have a good name for your website. This is also one of the easiest steps in web development, albeit one of the most important. If you want your domain name to have instant name recall with your would-be-visitors, stick with a short and simple one. You might also want to consider purchasing a domain name instead of making do with a free yet elaborately long domain name.

WEB DEVELOPMENT FACTOR #4: WEB HOSTING

So now, we’re assuming that you’re done with developing your website. It’s time to choose for a web hosting site. Make sure that all the features of your website are compatible with the server of your web hosting site. If you’re using a database in your website, for example, make sure then that you can upload it to your web hosting site of your choice.
