Types of Web-hosts
If you are interested in having your site generates more hits. Having it web hosted may be the best thing to do. Most companies who would want more exposure in the growing World Wide Web pay for their web site to be hosted. Aside from having it generate more hits, the personal hassle of you maintaining your own site will not be such a horrendous experience.
If you are now at the point of having created your own website and now want to post it in the internet, here the various kinds of web hosting. Among these types, you may be able to find one that is most suited for your needs.
• Free hosting - if you are a start-up this is the best way to go.
Unfortunately free web hosts doesn’t necessarily mean their really
free. In exchange for being free, they put up heir own advertisements in
your site. They also only allow web based uploading and editing, a small
disk space and tight traffics. However it is still free.
•
Image hosting – this hosting allows a few different formats of images.
This type of hosting is also free but requires registration. To prevent wasted
space or bandwidth, these host sites allows a person to create hotlinks to
upload on their site.
•
Shared Hosting – your website is placed under the same server with
lots of other websites. The drawback of having it in a shared type of hosting
is that, when one site goes down, the others will be affected as well. There
are also restrictions in a shared hosting but not as strict in free ones.
•
Clustered Hosting – this was designed to eliminate problems associated
with shared web hosting. They are able to offer the prices of a dedicated
server at an affordable price. This type hosting is able to provide the clients
with clustered handling of security, load balancing and necessary Web resources.
Load balancing is able to disperse traffic better to be able to have better
performance for all accounts.
•
Reseller hosting – designed for people who want to become or have their
own web hosts. The person is able to get a large bandwidth that he can divide
for as many users he/she wants on his/her account. This account is placed
in the same server with other reseller accounts, juts like in shared hosting
with fewer accounts.
•
Virtual Private Server or Virtual Dedicated Server – it is a way of
splitting a single server into multiple servers that is able to function
as a stand alone isolated server. This offers the same benefits of a dedicated
server, such as root access and is relatively cheaper as well.
•
Dedicated Hosting – he/she is able to get his/her own server. The only
restriction of this kind of web hosting is the maintenance of the integrity
of the Web host’s network. (Banning sites with adult content). The
user can generally be on his own if he is bale to purchase a separate plan
from the host. Though this can be very expensive compared to shared hosting.
•
Colocated Hosting – the user creates his own date
hosting center by providing his own web server. The user must pay extra for
the many services
it provides aside form the unmonitored reboots. This type of hosting is generally
chosen by people with server administration experience. This is the most
expensive of all web hosting.
Now that you have a general idea of the types of web-hosts, you may now
be able to choose more wisely what is best suited for your own needs.
