Philippines Travel Guide
The Augustinians created Pasig in 1572 in the Philippines. The town is one of the Philippines' oldest towns. In June 1901, Pasig became the capital town of Rizal Province. In 1975, the town became part of Metro Manila and in January 21, 1995, Pasig City was born.
Being one of the oldest towns, Pasig City has a lot of Philippine historical landmarks to visit. Examples are Concepcion Mansion, Bahay na Tisa, Guanio House, Pasig Water Tank, Beaterio de Sta. Rita de Pasig, Pasig Church, Old Provincial Capitol, Doña Geronima’s Cave, Victoria Theater, and Plaza Rizal.
The Pasig River is the main waterway of Pasig City, which is 25 kilometers long. This river divides Metro Manila, Philippines into two and flows out to Manila Bay. The Marikina and San Juan Rivers are its contributory rivers. Today, the Pasig River is polluted but the local government of Pasig City and the national government of the Philippines are having projects for Pasig River's rehabilitation like the "Piso Para sa Pasig" project.
The local government of Pasig City has developed parks and playgrounds to meet the recreational interests, rich cultural and historical heritage, and needs of their citizens. The City Rainforest, located in Barangay Maybunga, is a newly developed park where anyone can go to relax amidst the city's hassles.
The most famous place in Pasig City is the Ortigas Center. It is Pasig City's business district. The development of Ortigas Center is Pasig City's testament of its success in the fields of trade and commerce, education, government service, and industry.
The population in Pasig City is regionally and ethnically diversified. Filipinos from Visayas and Mindanao continuously migrate to this city for employment and education. When one talks about the Pasigueños, the entire Philippines is being talked about.
Agriculture is practically non-existent in Pasig City. The industrial sector of Pasig City is mainly construction and manufacturing. The construction industry has boomed in Pasig City due to a lot of condominiums, subdivisions, bridges, and roads that are being continuously built in the city's vicinity.
