Web Hosting Essentials

Web Hosting is the process of creating websites for the purpose of publishing in the Web. Large and medium-scale companies have utilized web hosting in order to market and advertise their products on the web. The emergence of different web hosting companies in the Internet has paved the way for Internet Marketing and E-Commerce.

Basically, there are two types of web hosting : free and paid. A Free web hosting provides limited space for storage and transfer of data. The web hosting companies use the website for placing banners and for advertising purposes. Paid web hosting, on the other hand, requires the use of domain names in order that users can have access to the website. Web hosting companies cannot use banners and advertising space so that more disk space for transfer and storage can be occupied. Paid web hosting companies also provides payment plans. The higher the plan availed, the greater the features and services offered. Cheaper plans, for instance, offer little or no technical support. Choosing the right plan is dependent on your website’s needs.

Web hosting generally offers a bigger disk space from your computer. The more amenities desired, the bigger the space needed. Web hosting can occupy 20 MB of disk space for the simplest web site and up to 1000 MB for the larger ones.

One distinct advantage of web hosting is that it appeals not only to the experienced and business-oriented individuals. A neophyte or someone with little knowledge of web hosting can even have his own website. Most web hosting companies provide a step-by-step online tutorial in order to create a simple website. They offer flexibility in choosing fonts, graphics and design. There are also different web hosting and designing software available in the market.

Still, there are other considerations to look for in web hosting. Security of data, spamming, navigability of options, software are just some considerations. For example, MySQL or MSSQL is needed to host forums in a website. There is also the assurance that more email accounts can be served in the site.

Choosing the best option and services for web hosting is actually dependent on the user. Evaluate your needs and what your site will content before you select a web hosting company or even decide to become a web host yourself. Remember, a good website may essentially separate a successful company from a lackluster one.
